1882-1975

In 1920, Miriam Frink and Charlotte Partridge worked together to establish and manage the original Layton School of Art. In an age when social mores discouraged women from taking active leadership roles, these two women were fundamental in establishing studio art education in the state. They were active for many decades educating students and bettering the visual art culture of Milwaukee and more broadly Wisconsin.
