Lynda Barry

Lynda Barry was born in Richland Center, Wisconsin, but grew up in Seattle, Washington.  She majored in art at Evergreen State College and began her career as a cartoonist shortly after graduation.  When Barry was 23, the Chicago Reader picked up her comic strip enabling her to make a living from her comics alone.  Barry is known for her weekly comic strip Ernie Pook’s Comeek.  Barry has also produced novels. Her book, The Good Times are Killing Me about an interracial friendship between two young girls was made into a successful musical.
