Marshall Glasier

Year inducted: 2015
1902-1988

Born in Wauwatosa, WI and raised in Madison, Marshall Glasier had a wandering, restless, searching personality throughout his life. Glasier’s artwork is often described as “magic realism,” combining the figurative and narrative approach of regionalism with the mystery, humor, and irony of surrealism. In Madison, he attracted a group of local artists, such as John Wilde who were inspired by attending his informal salon talks, where art, politics, literature, and music were all topics of conversation.
