Initially trained at the Layton School of Art, since 1979, Milwaukee-based environmental artist, Roy Staab, has created site-specific ephemeral installations along the shallow waters and shores of lakes, oceans and rivers. He uses found materials such as reeds, bamboo, snow, stones and lines drawn in the earth. Staab’s creations are simple geometries born of place, materials, and the local cultures where he works, be it New York, Florida, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands or Japan.
