1946-

Russell Bowman became the Milwaukee Art Museum’s chief curator in 1980 and its director in 1985. For years Bowman wanted to raise the museum’s profile in the larger art world.  He finally convinced the trustees and the widely acclaimed addition to the museum designed by Calatrava was completed.  Bowman left the museum in 2002.

In 2002 Bowman founded Russell Bowman Art Advisory which provides complete collection development and management for private collectors, corporations and institutions.
