Kent Anderson

Dr. Kent Anderson was an important figure in art education and in the art world in Milwaukee for over 50 years.  He had a long career as an artist, an art teacher, a teacher of art teachers, an arts administrator, and a board member for many non-profit arts organizations as well as a great promoter of all the arts.

He was with the Milwaukee Public Schools for over 30 years until his retirement in 1984.  During that time he was also the on-air host of Art for You, an educational TV program broadcast into MPS classrooms during the 1960s.  He also established specialized art schools such as the Milwaukee High School of the Arts and an “Art Satellite” program with students attending full-time classes at the Milwaukee Art Museum.  After his retirement, he taught classes at many colleges and university in the Milwaukee area.

As an artist, Anderson received numerous awards for his paintings, prints and photography.
